Ricegrowers Limited, trading as SunRice®, buys all of the unprocessed rice paddy from the rice farmer after it has been harvested. Ricegrowers Limited processes the rice in its rice mills. When it has been value-added, the final product is sold, through the Rice Marketing Board, domestically and overseas to the highest bidder. The rice is then transported to shipping terminals in many locations throughout Australia to be shipped to its buyer. Trade issues Unlike many other rice growing countries of the world, Australian rice farmers do not receive any subsidy for the production or exporting of rice.
